Yes, but only at bachelor's level. According to the 2027 calendar ÖSYM, Turkey's national assessment centre, published on 28 October 2026, the KPSS General Ability and General Culture session for bachelor's graduates is on Sunday 12 September 2027, with Field Knowledge sessions for specialist posts on 18 and 19 September. Applications run from 8 to 19 July 2027, late applications on 28 and 29 July, and results are planned for 13 October. There is no associate degree or high school session in the 2027 calendar.
KPSS, the Public Personnel Selection Examination, is the test behind most civil service recruitment in Turkey. Some news reports give 18 September for the general session, while most give 12 September, so ÖSYM's own page is worth checking before applying.
Who can take a KPSS in 2027?
Bachelor's graduates and students graduating in 2027 can sit the September exam, since the bachelor's session runs every year. Associate degree graduates cannot: their last session was on 4 October 2026, and that score is the one they will use throughout 2027. The same goes for high school graduates, whose 25 October 2026 session will report results on 19 November.
Prospective teachers are a separate case. For teaching posts in state schools, the role KPSS used to play has passed to the Ministry of National Education's own academy entrance exam, MEB-AGS, first held in 2025 and set for 8 and 9 May 2027. A graduate aiming for a state teaching job should plan for May. Other public posts still go through the September KPSS.
Why are the associate and high school sessions held only every other year?
Both run in even years: 2024, 2026, and, if the pattern holds, 2028. Their scores are valid for two years and, if no new exam has taken place, stay in use until the next results come out.
For candidates the cycle cuts both ways. A good score in 2026 covers two full years of applications. A missed or disappointing exam means a long wait. An associate degree graduate who skipped the 2026 session will have no current score for posts that require one until 2028.
How can bachelor's candidates use the 45 weeks?
From today to 12 September 2027 there are 316 days, roughly 45 weeks. Splitting them into four parts keeps the first months from drifting.
The first 17 weeks, to the end of February, can build the General Ability foundation: reading comprehension and maths word problems, done in small daily doses. The 13 weeks from March to May move the memory-heavy General Culture topics forward; reviewing each history or geography unit one week and again one month after finishing it carries it through to September. June and July are for full practice tests, with the application window falling in the middle. August and the first two weeks of September are for analysing mistakes and timed rehearsals. How the 120 questions and 130 minutes are structured is set out in KPSS questions and exam duration, and the application steps in how to apply for KPSS.
How should associate and high school graduates plan for 2028?
Start by settling the level. KPSS candidates must sit the exam at the highest level they have completed, so a high school graduate who finishes a two-year open education programme in 2027 will take the associate degree session in 2028, not the high school one. All three levels test General Ability and General Culture, so the content of study barely changes; the competition and the score type do. The levels are compared in how the bachelor's, associate and high school KPSS differ.
These candidates have time on their side: about two years in the usual cycle, against 45 weeks for bachelor's candidates. A slow first year on lasting General Culture topics and a second year of practice tests is realistic. For bachelor's candidates, the first concrete date is 8 July 2027, when applications open.
