The 2027 Ministry of National Education Academy Entrance Exam, MEB-AGS, will be held on Saturday 8 May 2027, with the Subject Knowledge Test for teachers (ÖABT) the following day, Sunday 9 May. According to the calendar ÖSYM, Turkey's national assessment centre, published on 28 October 2026, applications run from 19 to 29 March 2027, with a late application day on 6 April. Results are planned for 11 June 2027.
The date itself is the news. In 2026 both exams were held on one day, 26 July, after being postponed from 12 July because of the NATO summit in Ankara. For 2027 the exam moves about eleven weeks earlier and is spread over two days. From today, candidates have 27 weeks.
What is MEB-AGS, and how is it different from KPSS?
AGS replaced the KPSS as the route into teaching in Turkish state schools and was first held in 2025. General ability, general culture and educational sciences, once separate KPSS sessions, now sit inside AGS, while subject knowledge is still tested by ÖABT, now the day after AGS. The main difference is what the result leads to. An AGS score does not place anyone in a school; it qualifies candidates to apply for preparatory training at the National Education Academy.
According to a Euronews Turkish report from 26 August 2026, that training runs over four terms of ten weeks each. The first three combine theory with time in schools, the fourth is entirely practical, and the final score that decides appointments is 40 percent theory and 60 percent practice. Those who complete it are employed as contract teachers.
KPSS remains in place for all other public posts.
What is in the exam, and how is it scored?
AGS has 80 questions in 110 minutes. In 2026 about 37.5 percent came from educational sciences and the Turkish education system, 18.75 percent each from verbal and numerical reasoning, 10 percent from education law and regulations, and 7.5 percent each from history and the geography of Turkey. The subject test has 50 questions, with 70 or 90 minutes depending on the subject. Four wrong answers cancel one right one, and at least one net correct answer is needed in each test.
How the academy entry score is built depends on the subject. Where there is a subject test, AGS and ÖABT count half each. For foreign language teaching, the best YDS or e-YDS language exam score taken in the same year before AGS replaces the subject test. If the 2027 guide keeps that rule, the YDS session on 28 March 2027 falls neatly inside the window.
How should the 27 weeks be split?
By weight. In subjects with a subject test, half the score comes from those 50 questions, and educational sciences are the largest block of AGS. Verbal and numerical reasoning improve slowly but respond well to half an hour a day.
A workable plan: November to January for the widest topics of the subject test, with 30 to 40 minutes of reasoning questions daily. February and March for educational sciences and regulations, which are short, easily forgotten and well suited to spaced repetition and active recall. The application window falls in the middle of this stretch, and ÖSYM counts an application as complete only once the fee is paid. April and the first week of May are for full rehearsals: at least three weekends with AGS on Saturday and the subject test on Sunday. Pacing across two long papers is covered in exam time management.
Is a 2026 AGS score still valid in 2027?
Until 11 June 2027. Under the rule reported by Euronews, AGS scores stay valid until the next exam's results are published, so the 2026 score expires when the 2027 results come out. Dates in the calendar are planned and ÖSYM says they may change, so the 2027 guide is the document to check for fees, exam times and the length of each subject test before fixing a rehearsal schedule.
